Residential Housing Unit Completions MAG has been collecting residential housing unit completion data since 1990 from its member agencies. Each housing unit is assigned a geographic location, which enables the data to be summarized by any geographic unit. This allows MAG to use the data for many purposes including the production of population updates and projections. Over 636,000 net residential housing units were constructed in Maricopa County between the 1990 Census and December 31, 2008. That amounts to approximately 40% of the entire housing units currently in the county. Since the 1990 Census, residential completions have varied with economic conditions from approximately 13,500 residential completions during the lull in the economy in 1991, to a peak of more than 48,000 building completions in 2005. |
